Explain about economy.

Can someone explain me how do the economy works? I’ve been playing this game for a long time and I used to be in “3 stars” systems to buy and sell. And why? IDK, I only assume that systems are better, but not know why are better! I think the economy status influences on goods price. But there’s another effect? Like better missions, better starships, more outposts in planets, cargo ships with better loot…

Ran for my life today and loved it.

I was on an Ice planet checking out the various animals and came across a ground creature that would dive underground, travel around and then pop up and look around. It was a pretty big creature, and looked like the prehistoric squirrel Scratch from the Ice Age movies, and I very much so wanted it as a pet.

Well I try to interact with it, but the button wouldn’t show up. So I tried to do this over and over for about 2-3 minutes, following it as it travelled. A jaguar like creature suddenly charged at me and I used a plasma grenade to kill it, accidently hitting the ground creature I had been following, for all this time across an open frozen wasteland, and a good long ways from my ship. Well it seemed to take offence to me hitting and and started attacking me.

It would drop under the ground and pop up and hit me and it did a stupid amount of damage. I have fought off hordes of sentinels with no problem, but this thing… it was no joke. I couldn’t hit because it kept dropping under the ground. I tried using my jet pack but it would stay underground until I landed and then start attacking again. I had no shields multiple times as I ran, jetpacked, and shot, geo grenades, plasmas, and everything else I could at the thing, just so I could make it back to my ship.

I finally make it back to my ship and think ok I’ll wait in here for about 5-6 minutes and go back out and do what I was doing… nope it was waiting for me. I had to bounce around get back in my ship. Finally I stood on my ship and just shot and dropped everything I could and finally killed it.

It was a strange and thrilling fight for my life, in a game I have at least 2 saves over 300+ hours on each, that I haven’t had in a while.

I went traveling around planet again and not, 2 minutes later a smaller version of the Ice Age squirrel Scratch popped it’s head up…

20 hours in, this is NOT a base building game!!!

I’ve seen videos and some articles that have complained about NMS being an “overglorified base building game” or “next gen minecraft” but I can’t even believe that people would take that opinion given the amount of content in the game!!

I’m 20ish hours in, have a pretty shitty square base that just holds my base computer save point and storage units, and the story of the game + exploring planets and documenting fauna alone has been MORE than worth the 60 dollars I’ve payed for this game.

Not only that, I’m not even close to getting to the center of the galaxy, hell I haven’t even found Artemis yet (if that actually happens?) and I already feel as if I’ve gotten my money’s worth just from the story and exploration alone.

All this being said, 20 hours of story and insane exploration to not even be halfway through the game, not even having a new ship yet, and I’m blown away that I’d seen people label it as a base building game. Totally ridiculous!!!

NMS rules.

Huh, that’s neat

Glyphs are in screenshot, it is on Euclid Galaxy, and it’s at coords -28.64, -142.14 on planet Snomchus Signa (I did not change the name). I’ve never seen anything like it. submitted by /u/Thee-Plague-Doctor [link] [comments…

Let me map planets

I wish the planets had an actual map in the discovery screen, where you could see each waypoint discovered and spin the globe. I feel like it would very simply add a lot of depth to a shallow experience So many things they could flesh out in this game…

Play past expeditions today(only on pc, sorry console people)

One question that I’ve seen asked quite often is if it is possible to play past expeditions, and people usually answer that aside from the four redux expeditions at the end of the year, you can’t, officially, that is the only way. However, there is a very easy and safe workaround that allows you to play any expedition at any time.

The data of all the past expeditions is still in the game, but these expeditions can no longer be accessed. However, there’s a file named SEASON_DATA_CACHE.json that controls the start and end dates of the expeditions, the milestones, the rewards, and a bit more. By editing this file, you can make these expeditions playable again without messing with the actual game files or your save file. JSON files are a bit hard to read and understand at first, but someone on github has already modified the file for all past expeditions, even accounting for the inventory system change in the Waypoint update. It’s literally just drag and drop; just make sure to read the readme files first, there’s a very good tutorial and notes about the expeditions, like bugs and possible workarounds.
