NMS HOT POST 2023/11/22

Explain about economy.

Can someone explain me how do the economy works? I've been playing this game for a long time and I used to be in "3 stars" systems to buy and sell. And why? IDK, I only assume that systems are better, but not know why are better! I think the economy status influences on goods price. But there's another effect? Like better missions, better starships, more outposts in planets, cargo ships with better loot…

My thoughts as a new player

After completely ignoring this game since launch I finally decided to give it a shot starting a week ago, and I’ve been playing it nonstop all week.

I love sand box exploration games, space, sci-fi, and customization. Although there is somewhat shallowness in certain aspects, this game hits all of those fairly well and the story and mystery is a nice cherry on top. Going from system to system, planet to planet… It can get a little repetitive. But repetition isn’t bad. Repetition is normal. Every game is repetitive. I kind of see this game like Warframe but better and way less grindy and way more freedom. This is probably the first “casual” game that I’ve seriously gotten into besides Minecraft and it’s refreshing to say the least.

I’m wondering how this game has or will effect the production of other games and how far they will go in the future because to me this game seems like the tip of the iceberg when it comes to procedural generation. I can only imagine what’s in store for the future of exploratory gaming and other implementation of this kind of design.

There is definitely one thing that is missing from this game, and I guess I’m beating a dead horse here but this game needs ship customization or even creation. It could be an extra thing to seek out materials for, more blueprints, recipes and an addition to the market. Customization is simple. And if you don’t want it then you could just flat out ignore the aspect. Purely aesthetic. It sure would be a great community enhancement for personalization.

As a Day 1 player, the feature I'd like the most right now...

…is Vortex Cubes as base decorations.

I’m 100% serious. A very small, simple request. I want to be able to place Vortex Cubes all over my bases.

Why? For all my fellow Day 1 players, you remember back when the game launched in 2016 when Vortex Cubes ruled the entire economy pretty much? If you found a planet with Vortex Cubes, you hit the jackpot, and you stayed there and grabbed all that you possibly could to turn in at trading posts to buy a new starship. Sometimes, they even looked like this on planets.

Vortex Cubes also were used to craft one of the hyperdrive upgrades before NEXT dropped if memory serves.

Now? They’re barely worth anything. They can’t be crafted, can’t be cooked, or refined, they don’t even drop Tetracobalt anymore. They’re just used for selling to make a very small amount of units.

The way I see it, just add them as base decorations at least to let us build cool stuff with them.

Just my two cents. Call it nostalgia for NMS 2016 if you must, but seeing Vortex Cubes in game always takes me back. I just want to be able to actually DO something with them again. What do you all think?

I've only hopped galaxies once. Does one to recollect glyphs?

A few years ago I finished a few of the storylines (I’m pretty sure that Atlas and I came to an agreement) and I ended up with all 16 glyphs then. I travelled to the 2nd galaxy, found my ship, then logged off. Haven’t been back to that save since. If I logged in would I have to get 16 new glyphs? Like, I think the symbols are all the same but would I have to collect them again?
