Multiplayer etiquette?

Hello travelers, I’ve recently fallen in love with No Man’s Sky and after around 30 hours of solo play I wanna dive into some multiplayer missions.

I’m playing on Xbox and as far as I know there’s no way for me to chat in public chat at the Anomaly and a lot of the chat I see is weird undefined characters I cannot read for some reason, so I never know what I’m supposed to do when I join a random group at the Nexus and they all start typing and splitting up into different systems. I don’t know if they’re mad at me for not knowing what to do or if they’re just vibing and talking with each other.

This made me wonder: what is the etiquette for random multiplayer sessions in NMS? Does everyone just go straight for the mission? Can everyone just do what they want? Is it better to split up?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Falling in love all over again...

For Reference: I pre-ordered No Man’s Sky when it was first announced specifically because they said it would support VR. I played it on the PS VR first generation and had a great time.

Flash Forward to today. I’ve had the PS VR2 for a couple of weeks, but no time to play it. This morning I fired up NMS and the VR2. If I didn’t need to stop to go to the bathroom I would still be there. I’m falling in love with VR and NMS all over again. The graphical upgrade, the haptics in the controllers and the headset, did I mention the graphics. The 3D audio with the Sony Headset is perfect, fits comfortably and sounds phenomenal.

All in All, I’m ecstatic! BRAVO!

Please let Light No Fire have VR support. I’m ready!

P.S. I love this so much, I posted it in the PSVR2 and Light No Fire subreddits as well.

As a former ED player the new space combat is a massive step forward.

Just want to say that adding the ability to toggle power to your shields/weapons etc.. while basic in comparison to other space Sims. It’s a massive step in the right direction.

I used to play a lot of elite dangerous and this is something I missed from space combat. I often felt like no man’s sky was a glorified version of space invaders where I was battling the equivalent to space gnats. A mediocre distraction at best.

Being able to engage in huge space battles, battle and destoy pirate freighters and have to think about it a bit more while having to tactically assign power to your systems is the first time I’ve seen Hello Games add genuine depth to one of the core systems. It’s a massive step forward for players who want expanded deeper gameplay.

I’m hoping this continues into exploration.. crafting and deeper mechanics for the other systems.

After nearly a year away from the game, I have returned

Some of you may remember me (probably not I dunno). About a year ago I had to leave the community due to not having the software to run No Man’s Sky. Today my brother gave me an early Christmas present which turned out to be a really needed up computer. I set it up, downloaded NMS, and crossed my fingers as it began to run… We are back in business y’all, with a whole new universe to explore!

Any tips anyone has without spoiling any recent content (I want to discover all that myself) would be greatly appreciated, and hello to all old and new friends
