Why doesn’t EVERYTHING join?

WHY DO NOT ALL BUILDING PARTS JOIN ALL OTHER BUILDING PARTS?

Seriously. Why don’t the small structures join the large structures that join the basic structures? Why do floor panels not snap to all walls or halls or stairs? Why is there some impassible lip at the top of all cube/small structure stairs? Why are there no railings? Why does the small structure ramp not snap to the small structure door? Why handicap your builds right out of the box? Never understood this.
