Best method for me: Just rip the fleets in space apart,don’t bother looking for the cargo pods withe the modules. Destroy everything,so the freighters as well. Easy targets and they give you great loot(s-class freighter upgrades+dumbloads of bulkhead storage modules which you need to expand the storage and tech slots on your freighter)as well. Just have enough sodium to recharge your shields. You can do that with 3-4 fleets in every system before they stop spawning. Then just jump to the next system and repeat.
Note: Try to go to rich systems. I don’t know if you get s-class upgrades in poorer systems as well. Always keep an eye on the race of the system(Gek,Korvax,Vykeen). Stick with one race,cause after all you gonna destroy your own reputation pretty quickly. So loose it on one and not all three of them.
End of the song: Keep expanding your freighter slots with the bulkhead storage modules(you can choose if you wanna use them for tech or storage,just click on a tech slot and it will be used for that), soon you will have more bulkhead storage modules and freighter upgrades than you need so you can sell them for nanites at the space station. Meanwhile your ‘salvaged frigate modules’ keep filling up. Still gonna take time but you gonna kill a LOT of bird’s with one stone.

I found this interesting so I thought I’d share. I think this is an outdated NPC interaction. I first thought it was odd that a traveler was the occupant of an observatory I just landed at, but then when I had this interaction I was even more confused. I recognized the system name, as I believe that is the capital planet of the Galactic Hub, but I found this message interesting since it doesn’t really guide you to any destinations or anything. I then started wondering if this was somehow a recruiting message for the Hub. But anyway I googled the name and it turns out that the Rentocnijik Expanse is a region of NMS space that has since had its name changed to something else, making this NPC interaction obsolete. Still new to NMS, I found a planet with a gravity so low, that my jetpack recharged faster than I was falling so naturally I tried flying into space without my ship. Took me like 3-5min to reach the orbit when the temperature went to zero, I instantly lost my shield and after a second I died (“Died by cosmic ray bombardment”). I’m posting this, cause after a quick search I found info about players going from planet to planet with jetpack, but apparently this was changed. I gotta say, it would be nice to get at least a moment to try turning back instead of dying, but I don’t regret trying.
