NMS HOT POST 2021/11/26

Just a PSA to both new players, and to some who may not know already. You can buy two inventory slots per system.

Basically, starting off can be a bit painful due to low inventory space. And hearing your onboard computer constantly reminding you that there are 'No free slots in suit inventory' tends to aggravate somewhat. So to help, make sure to get both inventory slots in every system you visit.

Slot 1: You can buy this from the vendor in the space station. It's a blue backpack hologram to your right once you exit your ship.

Slot 2: Call in the anomaly and head to the back where the six vending stations are (where you spend salvage data to gain new blueprints). There is another hologram here in the left corner as you walk in.

These will be available in every new system you visit, and the price increases gradually. It's a great way to stop your onboard computer from bothering you every five minutes.

Fly safe fellow Travellers. o7

Me and the Boys

Me and the Boys

I have two best friends who stopped playing NMS for a really long time because of their job (I have a job too). I felt a little bit sad that time.

After several days, I found out about the squadron feature. I’m like, okay, this is cool. I have starships to fight with me when doing pirate missions. Hours later, I thought maybe I could recruit a pilot who has the same ship as my bois. It’s so awesome when there’s a freighter battle or conflict; they will warp in then engage, I really feel like I’m fighting with them. Every so often, I even let them have the last hit.

Sometimes when roaming in space, I’ll call my squadron to feel like I’m playing with them.

We’re still active in chats though, and that’s why I’m not that sad. I just thought I’d share it here :>

I've played both No Man's Sky and Elite: Dangerous...

And I played them side by side for a VERY LONG time. For almost 5 years, I was a devout CMDR in Elite. I was active in the community, I wrote stories on inara.cz and I built dream ships in Coriolis. Then, out of the blue, Frontier Developments announced that they would no longer give support to console gamers and that no future DLC would be added except to PC. So after 5 years of paying them for every scrap of content to include paint jobs, ship kits, and decorative boubles for my cockpits; after spending $50 of my hard-earned money so many years ago to purchase a physical copy of the game, I was told to either buy a Steam Deck/PC, or kiss off because (supposedly) the FPS aspect that was added in the Odyssey expansion was too much for consoles to handle.

Meanwhile, here’s Hello Games not only constantly expanding the game by leaps and bounds (totally for free) and not only have they never stated that NMS is too much for consoles to handle, they’ve done the impossible and added the Switch to their list of platforms! And with every expansion or update, there’s always something that HG has in the background to try to improve stability for non-PC fan base. Proving without a doubt that the Elite dev team and their claims are full of sh*t.

Thank you Hello Games for actually CARING about the people who spent money on your product and fastly refusing to leave us blowing in the wind as you move forward. Thank you for doing all of this hard work for FREE (even though I have no idea through what sorcery you’re supporting yourself). And thank you for putting other developers to absolute shame by showing them how you’re supposed to treat people who invest both their time and their faith in your product. I’m proud that after I hung up my CMDRr’s hat, I was able to pick up the cloak of a traveler…

How many bases do you have? Really though?

I have developed the habit of constantly building bases on any planet that interests me, even a little bit. I almost never return to most of them, except to avoid lengthy travel or to harvest a resource when I can’t find enough in trade. I think I have twenty-five or more bases now. Should I delete them and try to just keep one base? How many bases do you have and/or use regularly? Edit: autocorrect
