NMS HOT POST 2022/05/3

Special shoutout to all those who decided to plant their flag near the city. I didn’t realize how popular this location was. Someone is building a speedway, an apartment complex, a number of villas. Amazing. Some peeps visited the city. Overhead shots of the city, looks like real street lighting.

~180k/hr Nanite Farm

Hello all!

Just thought I’d share this with the community for any new people who are struggling to get nanites.

When you are out there exploring planets, you sometimes come upon Curious Deposits. These are piles of Runaway Mold (green spheres that actually roll down the hill they are on once you mine them). You can refine these into nanites at rate of 5:1. So a full stack nets you 2k nanites.

Sometimes these deposits have 1 or 2 spheres, those are tiny. You are looking for decent sized ones, like 10+ spheres.

Once you find one, follow these steps:

1) Place a base computer. Name it whatever (I name mine Runaway Mold 01 <Planet Type>). If this will be your only Mold base, you can leave off the “01”. More on that later.

2) Build a Portal, 1 Battery, 2 Solar Panels. Hook them all up.

3) Build a Save Point

4) Build base walls in FRONT of the Mold Spheres so when they start rolling down the hill when you mine them, they hit the wall and you don’t have to go chasing. Just corral them real good.

This is pretty much it. You then mine all the spheres and get the Mold. I use a Multitool that has all my mining upgrades in Super Charged slots. If you don’t have an extra MT for this, just temporarily rearrange the one you got. I can grab 20k Mold in one go at one of my spots.

After you mined it all, save at your Save Point. Then reload the save point. Once you’re loaded, all the Mold Spheres will be respawned. And you just do it again over and over and over. I can collect around 30k worth of Nanites in just under 10 minutes.

For those not wanting to do the reloading due to immersion breaking or whatever, you can also just use the portal and go to anywhere, then portal right back and the spheres will be respawned. If you find a second good spot, built a base there with a portal and just port between the two.

Hope this helps someone struggling for Nanites!

With all the buzz for ship customization in the community I'm surprised I haven't seen more discussi...

Hello Games is definetely listening to us when we say we want to be able to customize our own ships and I believe the Voltaic Staff was not only a new thing they wanted to add but also a way for them to test a system for us to actually customize something part-by-part and then by color.

I thought the system worked well except for having to create a whole new staff if you found a new part. There’s also the state of contention on whether or not it’s better to unlock parts permenantly like in the player customization system or if the parts should be as they are, cosumable. I know why they chose to make them consumable, HG doesn’t want to do anything to harm or discourage players from exploring No Man’s Sky. Their procedural, 18-quintillion planets is their top selling point and it needs to be explored and all things involved or added should not only encourage exploration but compliment it.

That being said, I think if ship customization is added, the parts should be found through missions and exploration, like the current voltaic staff customization, but due to the vast, growing types of ship and their parts and colors, they should be permenantly unlocked upon discovery.

There is also something I’ve been feeling that I may be alone in but the newer ship-types(sentinel, solar, living, and the new expedition ship) all have unique upgrades and animations that are beginning to overshadow the use and cool-factor of the original types. If ship customization is implemented should it only be for the original types or for all types and if for athe newer ones as well would that then make them less special or even lesser than the latter by way of not being able to customize them?

Food for thought. Penny for yours. I’d love to see what the community thinks about this.

Please Sean?

Please Sean?

I’ve probably spent 10hrs building my freighter and still haven’t found a good way to section off rooms, the window acts as a functional barrier but is a window, I think a wall would make a wonderful wall. What are you guys doing to create rooms? I’ve found using straight corridors as lifeboats creates a fluid interruption in the space if on the outer edges of a freighter.

Grab a Drink at CLIF’s Cantina!

Located in the bustling spaceport of Mos Blanca, and nestled at the mouth of a recently decontaminated cave system, CLIF’s Cantina is your home away from home! A wide selection of beverages are on tap, including several fine Vy’keenian ales. Come enjoy live music from The Toadal Nodes, an all-Gek Modal Nodes tribute band, every Thursday and Friday night. Our companion droid barkeep, CLIF (Computerized Logic and Intelligence Framework), may not be the galaxy’s greatest conversationalist, but he pours a stiff drink and will keep them coming (we removed the inhibitor chip that forced him to adhere to local system liquor laws). So come on down! We’ll save you a stool!

What should I buy first?

I was playing last night and found some technology worth 15.6 million each. I had a whole stack of 10 that I sold for over 155 million. I’m on my first playthrough (about 5 hours of play time) and was wondering what I should do with my sudden surplus of units. I’m already hunting for a better ship and multi tool but I’m unsure of what else to buy or save for
