NMS HOT POST 2022/05/31

Well that was the creepiest in-game experience yet

So I was on the first Anchor Point world for the expedition, and decided to build a base so I could teleport there quickly again if I die for a fourth time. There was an ice storm going on, and I put my base together as quickly as possible to escape the cold. After organizing my inventory for a few minutes, I turn around and standing just inside the doorway was the silhouette of another Traveller, just standing there and watching me. It was dark, and it was creepy, and it gave me a jump scare.

Anyone out there wanna start a Fisherman's guild?

Anyone out there wanna start a Fisherman's guild?

I know you’re out there, I cannot be the only one.

Yes I know, fishing isn’t a thing in NMS. But neither was building cities, or having civilizations, or running a taxi company, or restaurants. Yet here we are.

We can build boats, share cool spots out there, look for a Great White sea worm, who the hell cares. At the end of that story we might get at least some fishing poles for a base decoration, or nets, or a damn trophy to put in a room. Who knows, I sure as hell don’t. At least if the fishing ever becomes a thing, we will be ready.

We can set up a base of operations in 256, yeah, not everyone has access, but we worry about little details later, I mean, a secret spot kinda goes in the fishing tradition after all, and isn’t that what guilds are for anyway. I have one base in there named Amity (like that town from Jaws, get it?)

Also, any sane man out there knows, any hardcore rules aren’t a thing for such a guild, like don’t mess up other member’s lures and don’t scare off the fish is pretty much all there is to it.

If this image speaks to you, you’re like half way there.

Anyway, at least it was worth a shot asking I guess.

I am absolutely blown away by how good this runs on Switch

I’ve got about 2000 hours between Xbox and PC. I bought the Switch version on launch and it was so-so. I mean I didn’t really expect MUCH in the way of performance.

Must have been one of the recent updates, but holy HELL how did the developers do this!? Between game engine optimization and the raw talent of the HG team, I am beside myself.

I don’t want to reach too deep into my pocket full of dreams but I hope Light No Fire comes to Switch as well. I was literally about to sell my OLED last week until I fired up NMS again.
