Here’s a quick rundown of everything currently wrong with freighters.

• This part of the freighter can’t be recolored or changed, it’s stuck as whatever your freighter’s original colour scheme was.

• The accent colour option does absolutely nothing on the Venator family of Freighters. It’s supposed to apply color change to the decals, but currently decals are rendered UNDERNEATH the main body of the Venator Freighters making the option completely void.

• The biggest of the Freighters don’t actually fit inside the UI, leaving this awkward looking overlap. Not that big of a deal, but it could look much nicer, example below.

  • If freighters were shown at an angle like this in the UI, not only would it fit better but it might even showcase more of the finer details off.

• Speaking of awkward UI, let’s look at the Frigate list….. Why does the Frigate list show 9 Frigates per page when the Frigate cap is 30? 10 Frigates per page would be much better.

  • 9 per page with a total of 30 frigates leaves this awkward looking 4th page which only showcases 3 Frigates. This page isn’t needed if you just increase the previous 3 pages frigate display by 1.

• Occasionally your ship will glitch out of the hanger during the landing process, which gives you a really cool view of your freighter base but should probably be fixed. lmao

• Seemingly nothing is stopping you from building out of bounds in the most awkwardly glitchy spots. Why am I even allowed to build here? Freedom is nice & all, but this is ridiculous.

  • Even my crew members are confused at this. lmao

Here’s a few ideas I’d like to see in a Freighter Overhaul update.

• Allow multiple player freighters per system (Limit is 1 currently, but modders have shown that more is entirely possible atleast on PC) This lets us show off our frigate fleet & all the work we’ve done with this aspect of the game to other players & friends.

• More Freighter Base Building options & decorations

  • Doors, both automatic & manual.
  • Windows option for rooms at the edge of the buildable area or just in general if you wanna create a medbay style area? We see windows on derelicts quite often, would be cool to add them to our own freighters.
  • Ladders as an alternative to stairs Freighter update Datamine has something better.
  • Buildable Transporters, as seen on Derelicts
  • Ship hangers (As seen in Derelict Freighters, could be useful as extra ship storage, maybe required placing on the edge of the buildable zone?)
  • Standalone rooms in various shapes, sizes & heights (Standalone rooms snap to the grid, but don’t automatically combine to other nearby rooms)
  • Hallways, Square Turns, circular rooms, a “hollow-out” or “empty room” option so we can create OPEN-AIR multi-floor/story rooms.
  • All the other building/decorating options we see in derelict freighters.

• Customizable Crew Uniforms

  • Let us decide what our Crew wear on the Freighters & Frigates.
  • Additionally let us decide crew uniforms based on Race, so the Vy’keen uniform option would be seperate from Gek & Korvax uniform option(s).
  • Maybe even expand this to Squadrons pilots as well? Although there wouldn’t be much point in this unless they landed in our freighters & walked around as well. WINK

• Customize Frigates

  • Having a Fleet all of the same colour is really rewarding, took me awhile personally… but what if it was made easier by allowing us to customize the colour of our Frigates in a similar way to how we customize our Freighter?
  • Customize the Combat Frigate’s reinforcements ships, atleast the colours of the trail. There’s been a few times I’ve blown them out of the air due to mistaking them as pirate vessels.

• Introduce more Frigate categories & expand Fleet size to 50 or 60 Frigates (NPC Fleets can be up to 60, why shouldn’t ours get close?)

  • Expand on the “Recon” Category of Frigates that were first introduced in Expedition 2 with the SSV Normandy SR1.
  • Add a Mining/Trading Specialized Frigate Category
  • Limit these “multi-category” frigates per type, otherwise people might completely replace their single category frigates.
  • Update Frigate missions to include something new & unique to give reason to doing them again.

• Freighters should feel Livelier

  • I feel freighters would feel a lot more alive if your Freighter & Frigates crew would path up & down the hallways, maybe the Fleet command room has a NPC in it either sleeping on the bed, eating lunch at the table or overseeing the fleet at the terminal? Also I’d love to setup a sort of bar or Cafe kind of area & have my Freighter crew walk up & sitdown on some stools. Basically bring settlements to Freighter bases?
  • Freighter settlements would be nice, I personally try not to settle on planets because I’ve lost a few bases to major updates, definitely wouldn’t wanna lose a Planetary Settlement to one. lmao

Freighters are a great feature, I just wish they were a bit more polished & less buggy.

So… I’m stuck in the floor.

I was doing some base building on my freighter. I had a hallway that turned left, and I was standing in the corner of the left turn. I went to delete the hallway and in doing so, also deleted the corner I was in. I fell beneath the floor.

I’m still standing, though. So I can move around albeit within the space of one hallway. I’ve tried almost everything to get out. There are no gaps to jump or fall through, building a short-range teleporter doesn’t work, saving and reloading is no good. I’m completely stumped. My last hope is that someone can try to come kill me.
