Why is base building this painful?

If I try to do anything more that a cube of walls with a roof I'm constantly fighting the snap system snapping to anywhere but where I want to place it.

Free build just doesn't work nicely either, it is always just slightly skewed or slightly higher than what you placed it next to.

Would really like options like rotation locking, X/Y locking, nudging, manually putting in position etc. just so I can tell the game where I want something without needing to attempt placing it for forever.

Is there any way to make building less painful or should I just give up on that part of the game and make a square box to do all base stuff inside?

More efficient ways to farm my self some frigate fuel?

I’m not quite experienced in nms and until now i went mining the blue crystals for hydrogen and shooting asteroids for tritium. Now, slowly but surely, my frigate has expanded so much, that I am able to do all expiditions every day, which costs literal tons of fuel. Any ”Life hacks” with refining materials or so? And can you build hydrogen and Tritium farms?

So uh... The first free freighter....

It’s supposed to be an S-class right? 😅

I still haven’t clicked the claim button because I’m still sort of in shock. I went through the dog fight event, checked out the freighter and was a B-class, but I had to shut off the game. I didn’t realize it didn’t save. When I reverted the save and did it again, the RNG seemed to have blessed me with a S Capital ship after the single accidental save scum.

I haven’t been playing that long and don’t fully understand what I’m looking at as far as quality. How good is she as freighters go?
