Summer Palace of a settlement in Paradise Planet

Summer Palace of a settlement in Paradise Planet

These days, when I have little time (due to work, studies, etc.), I've found a small hobby in my free time that relaxes me: Building in this wonderful game. My two ideas in mind are two identical buildings, but one with a summer palace theme for relaxation and the other more like a headquarters on an atmosphere-less planet, the capital of my gaming community.

The one I'm presenting now is in my settlement, also constructed of stone, serving as the settlement leader's building. I'm trying to give it a Spanish/Andalusian "patio" style, which would be surrounded by the rest of the structure (guest rooms, bathrooms, dining area…) and defended by 4 towers that dominate the corners. I still need to modify walls by adding some windows, find a nice color, etc. I know I'm not the best builder, but I'm proud of my creation, and I hope you all like it too 😊

Be Excellent to Each Other...

I’ve now completed the Beachhead Expedition twice (on PS5 and PC), and both times I encountered trolls who thought it would be funny to try and seal off something from other players. From crashed ships boxed in via a base to Traveler graves either boxed in or even erased via a carefully placed comm ball.

If you come across something like this, it’s trivial to defeat. For a base, report the base and it will vanish, allowing you access whatever was hidden. To report, either access the base computer or bring up your build menu, then bring up the secondary delete/color change menu and go to the right. You’ll find a report option there. Highlight a base part (if you can’t access the base computer) and report it. Same thing with a comm ball. If the object you’re seeking has vanished, save and reload after you’ve reported the base/comm ball and it should reappear.

If you’re one of the mouthbreathers who thinks this is funny, it’s not. It’s a jerk move that annoys experienced players and frustrates beginners. Don’t do it. Remember the words of the Wyld Stallyns…

Be excellent to each other, and party on dudes!

In your opinion, what's the most beautiful planet type?

What’s the best beautiful type of planet you’ve found, and how do I find one? Looking for a gorgeous planet to build a base on. I don’t want an Earth clone, I want something with exotic colors, glowing stuff, lush plant life, etc

Obviously paradise planets are great, but what others have y’all found? I really like viridescent planets but I’ve only founs 1 so far. I absolutely love the exotic feel, glowing stuff, etc. I recently found a “toxic anomaly” planet type with awesome rock formations.

I don’t really care about sentinel presence because the way I understand it, you can disable them planetwide with the sentinel pillar.

I bought NMS on a recommendation from a friend in order to kill time waiting for Starfield. But I'm ...

On the positive flip-side – I love this game already and I can see myself dumping at least 100-1000+ hours into it. On another positive note I will probably enjoy Starfield equally. On the negative side of the coin, I will probably be incredible frustrated at not having the best of both worlds.

Do you think interior ship design will happen with NMS? Or building your own ships? It feels kinda weird that you can’t chill inside your ships. A void Starfield will fill.

What I wanted some discussion, thoughts and opinions on, if you guys feel like sharing, is the following; Why do you think it’s so hard to make a game which has the best of both w/o too much compromise? A game like that would probably satiate everyone into an everlasting gaming frenzy.

Is that a technical challenge? Economical one? Development time? All of those or others?

I’m playing NMS like a relapsed crack addict who just found a mountain of cocaine atm. And I’m friggin loving the game. And I’ll probably love SF when it comes out. However it does leave this frustrating thought eating at me like… these two games seems to both lean towards everything I want in a game so closely but not perfectly.

Anyway, /endrant! Glad I discovered this game despite being late to the show. Finally a game to fill the massive void.
