NMS HOT POST

Several things about pirate attacks annoying me.

Ok so I need some help here. I’m getting disrupted by hostile enemy scans while trying to mind my own business and I’ve got some issues. First, I just installed and tried using the cargo scan deflector and it’s either bugged or there is something I’m not getting. When I use it while being scanned, it shows a message saying something like “enemy scan scrambled”, but immediately afterwards they begin scanning me again. I used the deflector like 4-5 times in a row and it just kept happening before I gave up

And then second big issue I’m having. I…cannot…STAND the obnoxious attack pattern most of these assholes have. I’m assuming the pirates are getting stronger since I’m progressing in the game or because my ship is S class. But it is AGONIZING dealing with them circle around, fly directly past my face over and over while infinitely recharging their shield if I can’t turn around and fire at them within 2 seconds. I have an S class interceptor with 421 damage potential, I have one or two decent upgrades on each of the weapons I’ve been trying. The issue is I can’t burst down their shields fast enough half the time, even with power diverted to weapons. Maybe one of the weapons I haven’t tried yet is good against shields?

Upgrading Ship Vs Finding one

Upgrading Ship Vs Finding one

Hello travelers, I’m quite new to the game (only 40-50 hours) and still constantly searching for tips and tricks here, and I see lots of talk about S class ships.

Thanks to an anonymous Santa, Units are no object to me, as someone randomly dropped 1 billion unit’s worth of cargo on me at the anomoly. So I wanted to look into ships. I really like the look and design of solar ships, but unsure how to find one in S class. I’ve seen that they usually only spawn in pirate systems, but S class ships that span in pirate systems have bad stats (?) I am unsure

I have stumbled into an S class exotic through pure luck, that I have lovingly named the Canary, but I also found this delightfully pink C class solar ship.

Again, units are no object to me, and I really like the Pink solar ship. Should I just grind for nanites (by selling and scrapping ships) to upgrade this pink solar ship to S class? Would it be more difficult to find a pink S class solar ship in the wild? Are the better stats worth it to find the be rather then upgrade?

Tldr: while I have an Excellent little bird of a ship, the little girl in my head REALLY WANTS the pretty pink ship. Should I upgrade it to S class or try and find an S class in the wild- and is there a preferred way of doing so. Thanks in advance!

PSA - You can collect many buried items from the surface (Cargo Pods, Ancient Bones, Salvaged Data a...

Many already know this but I also see enough posts talking about using the Terrain Manipulator to think this post could help out at least a handful of new Travellers.

Just stand in the correct spot and look down, use the Scanner to stand right above it, the option to hold your system’s button to interact should appear. Least obvious to me where crashed freighter cargo containers. It’s unusual I don’t have to do any digging to access them. I was pulling everything else from the surface for weeks before I realized I could also do cargo pods.

FYI – I haven’t tested this out underwater

On the other hand – the most common time I see people forget to use the Terrain Manipulator is when their objective is in the Ocean – If you swim there, build a platform you can call your ship to, remember to change the size of the block to the max size, it will make making the platform easier/quicker. Way quicker than swimming 800u+ back to your ship.
