NMS HOT POST 2024/03/13

You can start Ex12 in the Anomaly even on Permadeath.

You can start Ex12 in the Anomaly even on Permadeath.

It seems that a lot of folks — especially old NMS players, and Perma Players don’t do the Expeditions because they don’t add much to their main save.

But I just wanted to let everyone know that starting Ex12 on your Perma save is totally worth it. Especially because dying on the expedition DOES NOT delete your save. Can confirm. I’ve tested it. It’s like going on a little vacation. Also, since this expedition is so lucrative, and fun, I highly recommend all PD players give it a whirl in the next few days before it expires. Nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Especially if … like me, you’ve recently lost PD character, it’s a great (and fast) way to get yourself back into a more comfortable spot. Maybe this violates the spirit of PD… but meh… it’s a feature in the game, I’m playing it as intended, and it’s time gated anyway.

Also: There’s an S-Class Exotic MT at a sentinel pillar on one of the planets during Ex12, and the paint-job and shape is giving my character Samus Vibes.

Do-it-yourself new character challenges

As much as I like cruising around the galaxy with my fully kitted-out main character, I really like the beginning stages of the game. I guess it was partly because of doing the achievements and expeditions, but I got addicted to the first few days of game time when your resources and abilities are limited, and I tend to start new characters and level them until I got bored and delete them.

But lately I’ve been setting challenges for myself. It started simple; get to an S-class multitool, ship, and freigter. Okay, that was fun. Full explorer run, maxing out the Explorer’s Guild rep? Cool.

So then I started getting a little more elaborate.

Neural Assembly
You are a stranded alien life form who’s managed to weld themselves to a robotic body, and you’re desperate to re-connect to your people. Put the Ares head on an Autophage body and get to the living ship as fast as possible.

Octopus’ Garden
You are a grumpy octopoid being who just wants to be left alone to make things and get wealthy. Build a base that includes a fully functional production line making fusion ignitors and stasis cores, deep underwater. Wear the Iteration: Gemini head. Use the bubble trail.

My next one’s going to be fun.

Rebel Scum
You are a robot, and that makes you mad. Full-on Autophage run. Get a sentinel S-class ship, an S-class autophage staff or sentinel weapon, and a pirate frigate. Make a seriously badass autophage getup. Max out pirate reputation.

Does anyone else do these little self-created kind-of story-like expeditions? Any other suggestions?

Best experience in a game i had in a looong while (slight spoilers)

I think i am just about done with this game, it was an absolutely glorious game, from start to finish. It made me feel like playing minecraft for the first time ever. From waking up on a planet with a broken ship, to walking around with 500+mil units full s-class ship, tool and freighter. The music, exploration, combat, story, mechanics, graphics and much more are just 10/10. Every moment from finally understanding a language to learning that artemis is dead or the universe is a simulation, all of these moments made me sit back and wonder, how i couldve avoided this masterpiece.

For now.. i think i’ll stop playing till the next update. I think just waiting for the quicksilver quests to appear or looking for upgrade modules, feels too much like a chore.

This game is definetly up with my all time favorite games!

I've only hopped galaxies once. Does one to recollect glyphs?

A few years ago I finished a few of the storylines (I’m pretty sure that Atlas and I came to an agreement) and I ended up with all 16 glyphs then. I travelled to the 2nd galaxy, found my ship, then logged off. Haven’t been back to that save since. If I logged in would I have to get 16 new glyphs? Like, I think the symbols are all the same but would I have to collect them again?

New Player Here. Got gifted ~250 million Units in the Anomaly on my first visit to it. Wondering wha...

The title is what happened. I discovered the anomaly, was meeting all of the iterations, and then I saw some fellow Travelers and I started using finger gun emotes and jumping around. One of them said some stuff in Cyrillic that I didn’t understand and then filled my inventory with items that were worth more than 1000x my total earnings at that point.

I’ve played enough games like this to know that the struggle to survive and build your own equipment and base is kind of the point. So I haven’t sold anything — I just put it all in storage and have been playing as if I didn’t have it. Figured I would ask you all if you have any advice.

Is there anything you WOULD recommend spending it on? Maybe an annoying and non-immersive part of the new player experience that I can circumvent with a Scrooge McDuck swimming pool of money?
