NMS HOT POST

Cool thing that happened today

I play as a Space Pirate, and I take down freighters like no ones business (not a brag, just a really huge death toll in Outlaw Galaxys lol). I got a Freighter upgrade from one 2 days ago and I paid attention to the name of the Freighter I “salvaged” it from. Now here we are 2 days later, and I’m walking through the first hallway of a Derelict Freighter and sure enough, when I read the control board, it’s the exact same name of the Freighter I destroyed a few days ago and salvaged an upgrade from. What made it cooler was that the time stamp matched when I read the records further into the ship. It’s all these little tiny details that really make this game even more fun to play.

Do a squadron pilot's "traits" have any real-world effect?

Do a squadron pilot's "traits" have any real-world effect?

I have read posts where people said they had a pilot with “Good Timekeeping” and that pilot always warped in first, as soon as the alert was called. I’d like to know if there’s a trait that stops the pilot from flying right in front of my guns while I’m engaged in a fight. This is why I changed all my squadron ships to guppies, to try and reduce their size so the hitboxes are smaller. In Nom Nom there’s a field for ship traits in the squadron section, I’m assuming this is actually the pilot’s traits. If I can find the trait I’m looking for I’ll give it to all of them!

Harder to hit (with friendly fire)?

Destroying a Sentinel capital ship should suppress them for a period of time

I was indulging in a little bit of light piracy yesterday, and after destroying several waves of Sentinels and their capital ship, the very next merchant freighter I attacked started the whole response routine all over again. After killing two of their capital ships and realising they still weren’t getting the message, I just went back to ignoring them entirely, which is pretty easy to do with just the one ship which tries to stop you at alert level 1.

Maybe I’m missing something obvious here, but it seems like destroying a Sentinel capital ship ought to disable them in that system for a period of time, the same as destroying the pillar on a planet does?
