NMS HOT POST 2024/01/7

Discovered by

My brother and I play together quite often. We have individual systems that we each have separately discovered. Recently I visited him at his home base to deliver some items to him. (And maybe grief him a bit by swapping out a base part for a different color or switch his telaporter to a mini telaporter)

When I left I continued my trek to the center of every galaxy, uploading discoveries on the way. The next day my brother visited his planet to now find that the discovered by was set to me instead of him, even though he uploaded the discovery long before I had visited.

Is there a way to get this to be set back to him? Is there a way to prevent this from happening? This occurred once before with a planet I discovered that got switched to him as well.

Not a big deal we were just curious. We play on the PS5.

Anybody looking for nanites?

Anybody looking for nanites?

I’ve made a base at a Sentinel pillar on a planet that spawns tons of curious deposits. It’s called HTK_Nanite Farm.

Arrive, shut down the sentinels, and go looking for curiuos deposits. You can rack up around 200,000 runaway mould in about ten minutes, 9999 will refine into 1999 nanites in twenty minutes.

I’ve marked 5 locations with save beacons, all <1000u from the base. You can see 4 of them in the pictures.

The curious deposits respawn after about five minutes so by the time you’ve found three, you can go back to the first and just repeat.

The base has thirteen refiners, so you should be able to refine 25,987 nanites every twenty minutes. The refiners are in the round rooms around the landing pad, but you need to use the teleporters in the teleporter room to get to them, or unlock them from the command room overlooking the landing pad (with the flag on it, above the airlock). To get to the teleporters, go through the airlock using the switches, and it’s behind the reception.

If you feel like exploring, harvest atlantideum whilst the sentinels are shut down. Refine 1/3 of your atlantideum into pugneum, and you’ll get equal amounts of atlantideum and pugneum, refine them together to make runaway mould. 9999 atlantideum will net you another 4000 nanites.

There’s also a traveler’s grave right next to the furthest away curious deposit, behind a floating island. There’s also a depot over the valley which you can see from the lounge.

If not, feel free to relax in the base whilst you refine. It’s fully equipped with a kitchen, bedroom, storage container [0], trade terminal, and roamer station, with nice views from the bedroom, lounge, and dining area.

Just finished Expedition 7

It was a rollercoaster. I rage quit a few times after dying, some due to my own incompetency, some due to glitches. I finally found a way to easily backup my saves, but after that I only died once after being ambushed by a bunch of pirates in space.

Other than the frustration of permadeath it was really a lot of fun. The real joy to me in this game is improving things: your character, your ship, your mechs, your base, etc. When you have all of that stuff close to maxed out the game becomes boring. Prior to the expedition I would log in, collect my spoils from my frigates, fight sentinels for a bit to get Walker Brains, maybe farm some mats and then log out because there is nothing else I really wanted to do. It had become rote.

The expedition brought back the olden days when I had nothing and didn’t really know what I was doing. I look forward to the next one.

No end to the No Man's Sky addiction...and I don't want it to end.

No end to the No Man's Sky addiction...and I don't want it to end.

Let’s be clear here…

I absolutely am addicted to No Man’s Sky…and I love it! I originally purchased the game at launch on the PS4 system. Played for a few hours and wasn’t impressed then dropped it. Fast forward nearly 5-6 years later (and now migrated to PC/Steam gaming) I decided to purchase the game a day or two before posting this. Not exactly sure what peaked my interest in the game. Didn’t see/read about any updates or videos regarding the game, just simply wanted to play it again. So I purchased it…..BEST.DECISION.EVER.! I can’t put the game down. I put hours into the game without realizing and continue to put many more. During the short period of time of owning No Man’s Sky, I have already put 20 hours in! I still feel like I have yet to scratch the surface! The addition of multiplayer is amazing. The farming and exploration loop is highly addictive. I still feel like I am aimlessly wandering as I explore and discover upgrades for my ship, exo-suit, and multi-tool. However, it is incredibly fun. Gaming has been a bit dull lately with the current releases and nothing peaked my interest. This game has managed to magically capture that sense of child-like fun I use to experience in the early days of gaming. Wanting to spend hours upon hours without getting bored. Don’t worry I do take regular breaks in sessions and attempt to pry my fingers away from the keyboard to get some sleep before waking up the next day to continue the No Man’s Sky grind.

All I got to say is….I love this game! Anyone else addicted?

(I created a Reddit account soley because I wanted to share this!)

Me by the ship I just bought! 12 mil units!
