Playing No Man’s Sky is really fulfilling a dream we were born too soon to do in reality

During Singularity expedition, we are tasked with forging the Seed of Will, which is “unsuppressable will to exist” taken physical form. When we interact/Resonate with it, it sounds like typical Atlas Interface… except it suddenly starts to sound like an alarm, very melodic one at that.
Now for those who don’t know, No Man’s Sky universe is essentially a simulation run by Atlas. Atlas is the name of the supercomputer who was designed to run these simulations by some unknown race of beings. However, these beings have fled the world which was slowly being eaten by the black hole and left Atlas behind, probably too monumental in its size to be transported easily. This has caused Atlas to develop abandonment issues, depression and existential dread. According to his calculations, he has 16 of something of operational time left (this is why you see number 16 being repeated everywhere throughout the game). Also fun fact – canonically your character is the last iteration of Traveller beings, which were made out of brainscans of Atlas’ creators. It creates Travellers in an attempt to find out why was he abandoned.
Now this is my theory, that the sound we hear while resonating with the Seed of Will is actually what Atlas hears in its room or other chamber where its physical body resides in. The melodic tunes we hear might be an emergency alarm sound as the physical world is slowly being torn apart by the black hole with Atlas being able to do nothing as he dies. The fact that the Seed of Will is described as “unsuppressable will to exist” could mean that Atlas wants to survive in whatever way it can. This also ties into another theory that the Construct we are assembling is actually body of the Atlas itself, which wants to traverse the simulation rather than just simulating it. I believe that this might be actually the way for Atlas to depart on its own terms – to wander around the world he has created rather than feel his body being torn to shreds in complete solitude.

Long story short, neighborhood cat learned to follow my dog in and out of the dog door a few weeks ago and she practically lives here now – but she especially seems to like when I play No Man’s Sky lol. I dunno if it’s the colors or the sound or what but she’s always up in my business playing this game. submitted by /u/Icy_Pattern5751 |

My idea for a Gas Giant; one could spawn per system (with like a 40% chance of spawning in a system) and it could harbor 2-3 moons. But what would make this interesting is the moons that it could harbor would be more unique and far larger than the moons currently in the game, basically planets trapped in this giant’s orbit. Now you’re probably thinking how the gas giant would actually work since its, you know, made of gas. My idea is when you drive your ahip inside the gas giant, its a huge storm that decreses visability and can damage your ship if you’re not careful. But the plus side to this massive risk is you can find rare recourses in bulk, enticing players to actively take that risk. Idk, just somwthink ive been thinking about 😄 submitted by /u/SkitsKing |

Hello Games is definetely listening to us when we say we want to be able to customize our own ships and I believe the Voltaic Staff was not only a new thing they wanted to add but also a way for them to test a system for us to actually customize something part-by-part and then by color.
I thought the system worked well except for having to create a whole new staff if you found a new part. There’s also the state of contention on whether or not it’s better to unlock parts permenantly like in the player customization system or if the parts should be as they are, cosumable. I know why they chose to make them consumable, HG doesn’t want to do anything to harm or discourage players from exploring No Man’s Sky. Their procedural, 18-quintillion planets is their top selling point and it needs to be explored and all things involved or added should not only encourage exploration but compliment it.
That being said, I think if ship customization is added, the parts should be found through missions and exploration, like the current voltaic staff customization, but due to the vast, growing types of ship and their parts and colors, they should be permenantly unlocked upon discovery.
There is also something I’ve been feeling that I may be alone in but the newer ship-types(sentinel, solar, living, and the new expedition ship) all have unique upgrades and animations that are beginning to overshadow the use and cool-factor of the original types. If ship customization is implemented should it only be for the original types or for all types and if for athe newer ones as well would that then make them less special or even lesser than the latter by way of not being able to customize them?
Food for thought. Penny for yours. I’d love to see what the community thinks about this.

Long ago, NMS only allowed players to own a single ship, making it a major decision on which ship type a traveler should go after. However, realizing this felt clunky, updates have been made over the years, ship slots increased, new tech modules, and new features added. This was a great call, but it did leave one mark: the distinctions between each ship didn’t matter anymore; Haulers don’t even have the benefit of additional cargo space, since all S-class ships can have the same total number of slots.
I was talking ship perks with someone, and it got me thinking that perhaps it would make sense to introduce new strengths to less used ship types. As I was mulling it over, I realized that some of these changes would have to be pretty potent to stand up to current-day standards — poor Shuttles, their only real signature is that their takeoff price is reduced, made obsolete by the auto-recharge modules. So I decided to spitball a few ideas trying to stay true to the ship’s purpose while taking 2024 NMS in mind, and see if the following suggestions are strong enough to make you think “oh yeah, I’d definitely want to own a [ship type].”
Shuttles:
Haulers:
Living:
Explorer:
Let me know if these are along the right lines, and whether you’d fly one of these if they had these perks.

El title.
Why bother to name stuff if you’re the only one who can ever see the name? Is there a way to let others see the name?

While I struggle with anxiety so it is difficult for me to egg myself into the multiplayer scene in the game, I just have to applaud ALL of you guys. This is the most non-toxic gaming community I think I’ve ever seen and I have been a gamer for a goood…

I re-boarded my freighter after a lengthy reconnaissance mission and wanted to send my frigates out.
So, I visit The Navigator, and he gives me the list of expeditions (not Expeditions) and it’s all low star trips, three 2** and two 1*.
Would love to see more 3‘s, as well as any 4* and 5*****, which I’ve never seen. What’s up with that?
That’s all.
Gray, over and out.
