If you look at the names of some characters in nms they are named after Greek & Roman gods/goddesses. Example:

Tethys: Tethys is the goddess of freshwater and nursing mothers. Also the name of a moon of Saturn.

Apollo: The god of archery, music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and diseases, the sun and light, poetry, and more.

Mercury: the Roman god of commerce, often serving as a mediator between the gods and mortals.

Ares: The ancient Greek god of war or, more properly, the spirit of battle. He represented the distasteful aspects of brutal warfare and slaughter.

Ariadne: She was a Cretan princess and the daughter of King Minos of Crete.

Cronus: A Titan and the youngest son of Uranus (Heaven/Sky) and Gaia (Earth).

Eos: Represented as a young woman, usually winged, either walking fast with a youth in her arms or rising from the sea in a chariot drawn by winged horses, Eos has the power to bring the dawn or the morning sky to the ancient Greeks.

Gemini: According to one version of the myth, Castor and Pollux were made into the constellation Gemini by the god Zeus to honor the brothers’ love.

Helios: The sun god, sometimes called a Titan. Helios is often depicted in art with a radiant crown and driving a horse-drawn chariot through the sky. He was a guardian of oaths and also the god of sight.

Hesperus: The Evening Star, the planet Venus in the evening. A son of the dawn goddess Eos (Roman Aurora), he is the half-brother of her other son, Phosphorus (also called Eosphorus; the “Morning Star”).

Hyperion: The Titan god of watchfulness and heavenly light. He was the father of Eos (Dawn), Helios (Sun), and Selene (Moon), as well as the brother of Cronus, king of the Titans, and the husband of Theia, Titan goddess of the sky.

Perses: The Titan god of destruction. He was the father of Hekate, goddess of witchcraft, by the Titanis Asteria (“Starry One”).

Selene: In Greek and Roman religion, the personification of the moon as a goddess. She was worshipped at the new and full moons.

Artemis: The goddess of chastity, hunting, and the moon, often depicted with her trusty bow and arrow and a short tunic to aid in running through the woods. Her maidenly virtue—for she swore never to marry—was presented in counterpoint to the passionate and fiery Aphrodite.

Acts of Piracy

I’m new to the game after being away for a long time. I’m really enjoying myself and taking it slow to really understand game mechanics and enjoy the journey. When shooting meteors in space for tritium, gold, etc. I keep accidentally shooting other ships passing by. This creates an “act of piracy” which lowers my standing (not sure what the implications of this are) and then calls sentinel ships in that shoot at me. Is there a way to avoid this or let the ship know I shot them by accident? It’s obnoxious and screwing with my chill exploration vibe.

Hi I just started playing No mans Sky like genuinely for the first time and I got rare ships?

So I started Playing NMS genuinely for the first time and I was in a space station and two of these dumb looking ships landed simultaneously I bought them cuz I wanted to be like

“Hahaha Squid ship.” To my friend who plays the game with me turns out these are super rare?

I didn’t have coordinates or anything as I still don’t even have portals I just started watching YouTube vids on the game for the first time ever and everyone is saying

“People hunt for hundreds of hours looking for it and most don’t ever find it.”

I just wanted to know are these really rare I can prove I don’t have portals if possible, I’ve attached my current missions to show I haven’t gotten to far into the game I have like 50 or so hours in the game on my steam is says 157 but I left the game on after falling asleep assuming that was the only way for my O2 farm to work if I was online

How do YOU spend your time?

I’m only asking out of curiosity.

After “Figuring out the game”, meaning how to make Units, farm nanites, set-up harvest bases, collect Sentinel/Living/Royal ships and upgrade my Freighter/Frigates etc. (Not that any of these are things you NEED to do but it wasn’t until my current save that it REALLY really clicked for me)

I’ve spent the last two days only bouncing between my Freighter and a base I have set up on an Alien planet (no hostiles, no weather conditions, “Alien” flora/fauna, etc.) working on creating my first “real build” just for fun- a little micro City project.

I wouldn’t say it feels weird to be building but not really ‘playing’, but instead I feel like I’ve managed to keep myself content with just building to have fun with it, and eventually (hopefully) get confident enough to show it off and upload the base despite knowing it won’t be close to some of the marvels I’ve seen you folks/other Travelers create.

And so I ask, how do you spend your time in No Mans Sky?
